The highly lauded Eric Estornel had an astounding year in 2011, dispersing ground breaking music in both the house and techno worlds under both new, and well established monikers. Already, the Maceo Plex story is one of worldwide success and Beatport chart toppers galore. However, Estornels techno personality, Maetrik, still has a lot of underground fire burning within.

Not content to slow down, Maetrik has already locked in his first compilation for the year, coming out on the legendary Cocoon Heroes series. The compilation is actually a recording of his live set at Cocoons famous closing party at Amnesia in Ibiza. In most cases, a live recording can often sound out of context and lose much of the original excitement of the event. Further proving Estornels skills as both a performer and producer, Maetrik Live at Cocoon sucks you right into the atmosphere and is guaranteed to bring many a happy memory flushing back to any Cocoon punters.

The hour long set is an unrelenting mixture of crude techno, pumping deep house and pulse raising noise that any Maetrik fan would already be acquainted with thanks to his excellent releases on renowned labels such as Treibstoff, Dumb Unit and of course Cocoon. Featuring four unreleased tracks, which are all set to release later this year (2012), remixes for the likes of Popof & Silicone Soul and a fine selection of Maetriks extensive catalogue. I can only imagine the raw energy floating throughout Amnesia during this incredible set.
