INITIALS 01

It's always an exciting, yet cautious experience when listening to a new labels debut record. There is also a hope that the label is going to be excellent and that they've signed the next big thing in their particular niche. However, nine times out of ten. That mentality leads to much disappointment and a truckload of shit music in your email.
Luckily for me, Initials is exactly what I'd look for in a new label. Signing an unknown artist, with plenty of talent and taste. Combined with the experience of running several other successful labels, and some trippy artwork for good measure. There, you've got yourself a proper debut record.
"Ste Roberts and Alex Jones are two thirds of the team that has steered the Hypercolour imprint to underground success but their new Initials label, run with David Elkabas, will provide a different perspective. "
Greenville Massives' Reflections EP, is the first of many Initials records. Consisting of three original tracks and a remix from Items & Things producer, Troy Pierce. The GM originals start with the beautifully dynamic Box, certainly not an obvious club track by any measure. But a superb production worth a listen on some decent speakers that showcase the real articulation behind it. Aside from that, the rest of the originals are a little more straight down the line, with the excellent Tone standing out like a sore thumb.
After listening to the three original tracks, the Troy Pierce remix offers a delightful contrast of sound and drum dynamics, a welcome change of pace that doesn't veer too far off the strong foundations Greenville Massive laid down.
‘Initials is just another ay of us putting out music that we love, Greenville Massive have more than caught our ear and Troy Pierce is someone we’ve admired for a long time but never pinned down before so the whole release made total sense.’ (Ste Roberts)
Greeville Massive’s ‘Reflections’ is released on Initials 11th Feb 2012
