This brand new package from yet another UK label, Illusion Recordings, is an absolute burner. Everything from the artist name to the jacking house beat is convincingly old school and still totally credible.

The NY House Trak nods it's head to the, you guessed it, New York house sound of the nineties. Deep to a level of filth, I can only imagine the dancefloor freak out that would happen if this was dropped at the right moment.

The standout of the two, Can You Feel It, has a superb vocal sample over a somewhat darker track. The choice of sounds are much bigger to a certain extent and it wouldn't sound out of place in a pitch black rave under that bridge up in the hills...

I had to take a break from listening to Nicholas for a little while. Although his sound is still massively better than a lot of pretenders jumping on this house resurgence, it was beginning to get stale for me personally. Being commissioned for what seemed like every remix opportunity that was going around (and taking them for that matter), it was no surprise to tire of his authentic 90's house sound.

This remix has finally given me something of his to love all over again, and please don't get it twisted. I own a big chunk of this dudes catalog. He completely captures the vibe that was needed on this record. With such breathtaking originals it could have been easy to go down a much simpler path, but evidently taking notes from authentic house man Iron Curtis for this one. I hope this is a new direction for Nicholas, because this could take him away from that cliche he pulled himself into.

The DJ Aakmael remix is nice but unfortunately falls weak for me in comparison to the rest of the record. An excellent drum track but I think it could've had a little more jack like the other tracks.
