Check out the latest My Favorite Robot release, a reprise of remixes for the Nitin Latenightlife EP from earlier this year. Remixes come courtesy of Anthony Collins, Subb-An & Brett Johnson as well as a re-edit from Nitin himself.

Nitin should need little introduction these days having gained prominence through both his recordings for MFR and No19 Music, the label he co-runs with Jonny ‘Art Department’ White. Looking further back, Nitin has been at the heart of the Ontario and Toronto electronic music scene as a DJ, producer, promoter and label boss.

The Nitin Re-Edit is a huge change of direction from the original track. A tough, tribal drum track is backing to some sparse, K'd out chords. Not too dissimilar from the Wolf & Lamb DJ KiCKS sound. I really liked the 808 sounds in the original but I think this re-edit will work much better on the floor.

Anthony Collins puts forward a patient and melodic remix, teasing for three minutes before the bass finally hits. An emotive journey driven by a relentless piano and heavy vibe drums.

Man of the moment, Subb-an, presents a similar taste to his massively popular Noir & Haze remix. Hopefully this isn't sign of a formula developing for him. But nonetheless the remix is a superb rendition of The Nine In One. Managing to maintain a cool vibe even with the oversampled Curtis Mayfield - Love & Happiness vocal. No doubt this remix will be the pick of the bunch for most.

My favourite remix comes as a surprise. Not well accustomed with Brett Johnson until now, the Dallas resident has put forth a superb 2 step remix that would measure up to garage classics no problem. The off kilter drum track is an excellent change of pace and the bass is to die for. However, I wouldn't be opposed to a dub of this mix for those times where a vocal just aint necessary.

Out January 23rd 2012 on My Favorite Robot.

Brett Johnson remix is some UK influenced heat.
