Matthew Dear – Headcage [Preview]

Matthew Dear is set for Australian shores at the start of 2012. The NYC producer is rumored to release his fifth studio album in the same year, and the teasers and previews of the said record, are already floating about.

The Headcage EP is a delightfully refreshing take on electronic influenced pop music, reminiscent of Talking Heads in both musicality, and David Byrne'esque vocals. It's a slightly more cheerful approach for Dear, with hardly any deep influence in aural sight... The video teaser by Morgan Beringer sums up the track perfectly. Looking forward to hearing the rest of the record, here is what Ghostly had to say about their latest release.

Matthew Dear's EP, Headcage, stands as a testament to the New Yorker’s work as a relentless songwriter, producer and in a new light, collaborator. Working with other producers and vocalists as well as mixing/tracking at Nicolas Vernhes' famed Rare Book Room studio has lent Headcage an openness and poise to the four songs presented here.
