INITIALS 01

‘Initials is just another ay of us putting out music that we love, Greenville Massive have more than caught our ear and Troy Pierce is someone we’ve admired for a long time but never pinned down before so the whole release made total sense.’ (Ste Roberts)

samrusso

Sam Russo – Freeze Track EP

Matt Tolfrey’s Leftroom enters 2012 in the same fine form as last year with a young Sam Russo, the four track EP also featuring a super remix from Jay Hazes’ FuckPony moniker.

bicep

Blondes – Water (Bicep Remix)

Bicep are back with another staunch remix, this time a monster techno remix for the ever so cool, Blondes. Coming soon on the revered RVNG International. Icey cold with lashings of muscular beef.

Axel’s Picks

So rather than clog the site up with posts about every release im in love with that week, ive decided its a little more tasteful to consolidate.

polkadot

Polkadot – Before You Know It

Free sounds from the young, inspired, Polkadot. This young British producer hailing from Wolverhampton is just another piece in the puzzle of the exciting UK scene right now.

This an excellent uplifting slice of garage with some really nice, although somewhat immature synth melodies. This guy will be on top form once he’s found his stride, mark my words.

jordanpeak

Jordan Peak – Mean Streets EP

Exploring a few different sounds within the record, the title track is a cheeky, jacking tune relying on three different vocal samples for melody. It works surprisingly well but doesn’t even scrape the surface of Jordans talent for a more musical sound. Done Did It is a big, relentless sound at times but their are moments of magic that remind me of our own Mic Newman.

Locked Groove – Rooted EP

The much anticipated debut release for Locked Groove, on label of the moment. HotFlush Recordings. A blinding collection of three fine works from such a young producer, who is surely destined for greatness.

roxymusic

Roxy Music Remixed By Todd Terje, Lindstrom & Prins Thomas

Terje turning the ’75 classic into a modern sounding, crisp rendition. Suitable for any discerning selector with a palette for live instruments and pumping drum tracks.

glimpse

Can’t Take My Eyes Off You

Incredible new EP from our mate Glimpse who colaborates with Giles Smith to create one of the deepest masterpieces in recent times. The major surprise player is the B2 remix from Jorge Caiado, serious bizz. Check out Can’t Take My

roule

Alan Braxe – Vertigo (Yousef Circus Rework) [WAV Download]

Now I know how much everybody loves a free download, so I thought this was totally worth your time. Although it probably doesn’t match up to the original geniality of Alan Braxe, this will certainly slot in to all your DJ sets without the need to run your clubs shitty mixer into the red.

maetrik

Maetrik Live At Cocoon Ibiza

The hour long set is an unrelenting mixture of crude techno, pumping deep house and pulse raising noise that any Maetrik fan would already be acquainted with thanks to his excellent releases on renowned labels such as Treibstoff, Dumb Unit and of course Cocoon.

huxleyon&on

Evans & Waterfall – On & On (Huxley Remix)

Dodman has crafted an expert sound, comparable to the style of Kerri Chandler, with the production value of any producer hoping to sound good through a DJM800. Which is certainly no mean feat in itself.

sbtrkt

SBTRKT – Hold On 12″ Release & Ride To Freedom

News just in from Young Turks, SBTRKT will be releasing one of my favourite cuts from the album as a 12″ early in 2012.

Hold On, featuring the vocal talents of youngster Sampha, was no doubt a stand out emotive piece of music from the self titled debut of Aaron Jeromes, SBTRKT moniker.

BOILER_ROOM_LOGO-530x530

Carl Craig, Marcel Dettman & Richie Hawtin on Boiler Room.TV

Richie Hawtin, Carl Craig, Marcel Dettman, Daniel Miller, Alva Noto, Dubfire, Matador & Gaiser will be playing a special edition of Boiler Room.TV from Berlin.

burek

Humandrone EP

The Japanese acid producer, Humandrone, has put forward an excellent sophomore for the label. Delivering a combination of organic drums and acid that isn’t too face melting. A great recipe indeed. Surf Around is no doubt my pick of the bunch but the whole twelve is stacked full of Japanese freshness and totally worth copping.

fallen

D’Marc Cantu – Fallen LP

Overall you can expect plenty of dancefloor punch with analog drum rhythms and creepy synth sounds, nothing too obvious here. Just a fine selection of intelligent house music.

ossie

Ossie – Peace & Love [MP3]

BOILERROOM proving why, yet again, they are a force to be reckoned with. The seminal dance music stream has become popular worldwide in it’s short existence and with the amount of unknown material they are gifting the world. I’m in

frankbooker

Frank Booker Boogie Tape

I decided to put together a “pause button tape” style mix together of some of my favourite Soul & Boogie tunes (CLASSICS!), like I used to do before owning Turntables (the early 90s!)
Obviously the technology has changed (thanks Ableton!), but the vibe is the same: Quick cuts, All Killer, No Filler!

futuresounds

OktoRed – Future Sounds Of 8 Mile 12″

I was excited to hear this EP from a producer I’d overlooked until now, OktoRed. Although this record is still firmly rooted in house and techno influence, OktoRed has pushed the boundaries of detroit music to slow jamming RnB style tracks sitting much lower on the BPM scale.
